When Boy Meets Tree!!

Can I just start by saying "No more winter camps"!! Dave and Ryan went up Logan canyon last night to experience what was supposed to be a "survival" camp in the snow for the scouting program. Now if you know the Wallis family at all you also know...we're not campers!! Dave got off work early yesterday to come home and pack....that took a little over an hour! We found out soon enough that because we aren't campers our equipment was mediocre at best!! Anyway...we got them packed up and on their way to the winter wonderland!! Of course I have no idea what happened between 2:00 yesterday and today...except for the fact that my son came home looking like his face had been put through a meat grinder!! I don't know if you can see very well from this picture...but the whole side of his face, nose, and mouth took a beating!! He got the bright idea to sled down one of the hills...needless to say he only went down once!! Now what about a tree infested hill screams "let's go sledding"?!?

This picture doesn't reveal all the cuts, etc, on Ryan's face. Poor kid. I sure feel sorry for him but very grateful it wasn't worse. That darn tree spoiled a great sledding day! Hurry and get better, Ryan. Love ya, Grandma Leonhardt

I was wondering how that awesome winter camp went and now I know! Sorry Ryan, trees hurt when you run into them!

I'll tell you what Ryan (your brother, my husband) said to me when our little Derek got a cut above his eye. I was frieking out, of course. "His beautiful face!!!" And Ryan said, "Ah, I had plenty of injuries on my face growing up, and you see what a handsome man I turned out to be!" :)

No freaking way did that really happen. That is awesome. Ryan, rock on buddy!! I'm sorry that happened but I would pay good money to see something like that. It's like when Matt fell on his bike or when he was running. Good Stuff!! Roo

I'm sorry but I think that's funny. I'm sure he's learned his lesson, maybe. Hope he heals quickly.

Im so glad that the trees were so far way from me when I went sleding with you last year, because, my goodness, poor trees, they would have been busted!!!
Love you guys!

Hey Ryan, Daymon loved the picture, in fact he had to blow it up so he could get a better look. He said "COOL"!
I hope you heal quickly.

That really looks like it hurt. I hope he doesn't grow up with a tree phobia. You guys are hilarious. I love your blog.
